Gottman Couples Counseling

About Gina Claxton’s practice focus

Helping Couples Rebuild Connection and Trust

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in couples therapy for partners who are ready to do the work of healing, reconnecting, and building a stronger relationship.

Relationships don’t fall apart overnight—and they don’t heal overnight either. Whether you’re struggling with frequent conflict, emotional disconnection, or the pain of betrayal, I provide a safe and supportive space where both partners can be heard, respected, and understood. My goal is to help you identify what’s not working, rediscover what brought you together, and build new patterns of connection that last.

My Approach

My approach is grounded in the Gottman Method, a research-based model known for helping couples improve communication, manage conflict, and rebuild trust. I am Level 2 trained and currently completing Level 3 toward full certification.

In addition to the Gottman framework, I integrate techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based work, and trauma-informed care. This allows me to tailor sessions to your unique relationship dynamic—honoring both your individual experiences and the emotional bond you share as a couple.

The Couples I Work Best With

I work best with motivated couples who are ready to engage in meaningful change. You may be feeling distant, frustrated, or unsure how to move forward—but you still have hope and a desire to reconnect. Together, we’ll work to rebuild trust, improve communication, and create a deeper emotional connection.

I do not accept insurance because couples work often requires more time, flexibility, and emotional depth than traditional coverage allows. This approach gives us the freedom to focus on what truly matters—your relationship—without time limits or restrictions.

Moving Forward, Together

Change is possible. Healing is possible. Love—real, lasting love—is possible when both partners are willing to do the work.

If you’re ready to move from conflict to connection and rediscover your partnership’s strength, I’d be honored to support you through that process.
